NorthWest Travels - 3

-7/6/09-

Today I woke up around 9 and packed up my stuff, and then went outside to thin some apple trees. Well, I only thinned out one apple tree because it takes quite awhile. When I was done there was a few hundred apples on the ground, and onlyl about 100 on the tree.

After a light lunch we packed up the cars and started our journey to NewPort. Me and Bailey drove in the big van with Todd, which was the lead vehicle. About 2 hours into the journey we stopped at a renowned favorite river for a swim.

It was a beautiful area and a beautiful COLD river. I actually entered the water by jumping off a 15 foot ledge to reduce my shock. I didnt feel cold while swimming but my body was not able to withstand the amount of heat loss for very long. It quickly became very difficult to make my arms through the water and I was quickly having a challenge just staying afloat.

After another few hours of driving we arrived in NewPort, and even though it is still very dark, I can tell it is very beautiful here. I will make sure to take plenty of pictures of the coast. Also, I must mention that the house is a work of art.

NorthWest Travels - 2

Today I cleaned and cut up 4 pine trees with a chainsaw. I always suspected that work with a chainsaw was hard and I have now affirmed that suspiscion. There was actually a point when the plug of the chainsaw started to smoke and melt the extension cord it was plugged into, this was partly because of me owning so hard and also due to the long distance of the extension cord. I long for the day when plasma cutters are readily available. Then I used a circular saw to cut up some scrap wood for kindling.
This is a short paragraph but let me assure you it was difficult.
Next we took the paddle boards and kayaks to a beautiful shallow lake. Unfortunately there were no pictures taken in the water because we forgot our waterproof camera. It was an excellent

NorthWest Travels - 1

I am on my forth day of my trip to the mainland and I have just decided it would be an excellent idea to create a travel blog. So thats what I am going to do.

I departed from Kona on Go! Airlines. First let me say that Go! not going to be around much longer because I believe that the 7 passengers on the plane were probably not enough to pay for the fuel used to fly us to Oahu. The cabin was kept completely dark the whole time and I was in the company of two rowdy Norwegians. After enduring an hour or so of catcalls to the flight attendant I arrived in the Honolulu airport at which point my airtravel experience went sour.
The first thing I did was board the Wiki shuttle. They asked me what airlines and I told them NorthWest, they proceeded to drop me off in the middle of nowhere. After I found a display screen showing the gate at which my flight was located and where. I then ran across the entire airport only to find a lone unsocial Mesa Airline attendant who briefly told me that this was the incorrect gate and nothing else. With 30 more minutes until my flight boarded, I desperately wove down a Wiki shuttle and asked the driver where my flights gate actually was. He radioed in the information and was kind enough to bring me to my gate (where I had originally started).
After boarding my plane I settled in and hoped for a quiet sleepy flight. Little did I know the guy sitting next to me had some strange antisocial tendency along with some annoying terrets, and the older woman in front of me had the idea in her head that I was constantly kicking her seat (and I believe that she thought I was doing it on purpose, as one time she even smacked my knee) it was quite comical really. I got very little sleep

I arrived in Portland at 7:09AM after a terrible airline experience. To be picked up by my wonderful beautiful Bailey and her uncle Rob. We drove to Jill and Franks house (Baileys Aunt and Uncle (also occupied by Baileys cosines Penn and Tucker)).
That day we were planning to drive to this interesting Fair to look around and visit Penn, who was working at the fair. So around 10:30 we started the 3 hour journey to the Fair only to find it raining harder than it was in Hawai'i and everyone packing up and leaving. Apparently the fair is not designed to be rained on so we picked up Penn and started our drive back around 2:30. For some reason the highway was backed up with no signs of any accident or road work and it took us like 6 hours to get back home.

I woke up with severe pains on the left side of my chest, which went away after I took a warm shower. At around 10 we took the keys and I drove Bailey Penn and Tucker into downtown Portland so we could look around etc. We went to Voodoo's Donuts (very good, very.. interesting), an art store, then Oasis Pizza (they had a StarTrek NextGeneration Pinball machine), and finally a small versions of Powells book store.
It was planned for me to drive all the kids up to Bend to Tod and Leslies (Baileys other Aunt and Uncle) sometime later that week. But we decided it would be better to go that night, so we did.
It was an easy drive, just very long, I think I drove 3 and a half hours without a stop, pretty scenery.
We arrived at around 8:30 ate some dinner than went to bed.

The next day we worked on the tree house that they are building outside their house. Then we went and Paddle Boarded down the river. Paddle Boarding is much easier and much funner than I thought. I was almost instantly able to stand up and only fell in once, which motivated me not to fall in again because it was fucking cold.
Later that night we walked into town at around 11PM to watch the premiere of Harry Potter at 12. There were hundreds and hundreds of people everywhere to see this movie. Calm down its JUST Harry Potter. The movie theater told me they had never had every auditorium sold out for every showing EVER! *reminder* JUST HARRY POTTER
We got excellent seats on the top row and it was an ok movie, I would give it about 75-78%. It would have been in the low 60s if there had not been a 30second action sequence where Dumbledore kicked ass.
We got home at 3-4AM and went to bed.
